Blues Festivals during Autumn 2010 in Finland

This wonderful summer (if you like hot weather) seems to be over, but still some festivals needs to be discovered during this Autumn in Finland, such as:

RootsEspa, Helsinki (28.8.2010). In the city of Helsinki on Espa stage, free concert starting at 11:00 (a.m.): Tortilla Flat, Ice Cream 12 Bar Band, Phantom 409 and T-Bird Gang. After festival party at Storyville club.

European Blues Union (EBU) "rakenteilla" (suomeksi - in Finnish)

Tämä on Suomen sivu bluesyou.com –verkkosivustolla, jonka on perustanut European Blues Union (EBU). EBU yhdistää bluesin ammattilaisia eri puolilta Eurooppaa; tämä porukka päätti yhdistää voimansa edistääkseen Blues-musiikkia muodostamalla eurooppalaisen verkoston. EBUn "virallistaminen" aloitettiin elokuussa 2009 Notoddenin festivaalin yhteydessä pidetyssä konferenssissa. Siemenet kylvettiin jo edellisenä vuonna (2008) Parmassa. Suomesta kokouksiin on osallistunut Finnish Blues Societyn edustajia: Pete Hoppula, Pertti Nurmi ja Aimo Ollikainen. EBUn suunnittelu- ja organisointityö jatkuu työryhmissä. Thomas Ruf on suunnitteluvaiheen päävetäjä.
Tämä sivu on vasta alkua; forum ja sosiaalinen verkosto on tulossa. Tälle Suomen sivulle on jo lisätty linkkejä mm. festivaaleihin, klubeihin ja levy-yhtiöihin. Linkin yhteyteen voidaan lisätä lyhyt kuvaus tapahtumasta tai toimijasta. Suomen osuuden päivityksestä vastaavat Aimo Ollikainen ja Pete Hoppula. Finnish Blues Society awarded The Blues Foundation's KEEPING THE BLUES ALIVE (KBA) 2010 Award!

The Finnish Blues Society (FBS) has been awarded the 2010 Blues Foundation Keeping the Blues Alive (KBA) Award during a recognition brunch at the Downtown Doubletree Hotel on Saturday, January 23rd in Memphis, Tennessee. The KBA ceremony is an integral part of the International Blues Challenge (IBC) weekend of events. The KBA Award in the International category recognizes the significant contributions to blues music outside of the USA. The Finnish Blues Society (FBS) has been pivotal in bringing and spreading the awareness of blues music in Finland during four decades.
The FBS is one of the oldest blues societies in the world and is today probably more active than ever. Thanks to the educational efforts of the Society through its Blues News magazine, its Blue North record label, vigorous concert promotion and a comprehensive up-to-date website, the Finnish blues scene has grown continuously over the years.
